“It’s true! I saw it on WhatsApp”: Social Media, Covid-19, and Political-Ideological Orientation in Brazil

The Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil was widely affected by politics and the population’s consumption of information is fundamental to understanding situation. This study aimed at relationship between political-ideological markers, information, preventive practices during pandemic. We conducted an online survey with 1,328 Brazilians who answered a questionnaire about authoritarianism, conservatism, political orientation, trust social media, results indicate that right-wing centrist individuals, higher authoritarianism or conservatism scores, put significantly more conveyed through WhatsApp less traditional comparison left-wing individuals low scores for these factors. Additionally, elements were closely associated worse concerning use masks, distancing, intention being vaccinated. findings warn impacts fake news health
